Title VII had their Scholarship Night tonight. I wasn't really planning on going, but apparently my parents were, or at least they were bent on taking me. When it comes to Title VII, I feel sort of like an "inactive member" or something, kind of like how for mutual they always invite you to the activities, even if they're pretty sure you're not going to come, but there's still the off chance you might. Anyway, it ended up being a pretty good thing for me to attend, and it was probably like the first activity I've been to in maybe...what, a year, at least?
Representatives from a lot of the colleges and universities around the state had booths set up and were ready to give information to the students about the opportunities their particular school offered. There were also a couple of slide shows concerning specific scholarships and how to fill out the FAFSA. It was really helpful, plus there were cookies! ;) I think I got handouts from just about every college that was there. My dad was kind of wondering why his school wasn't being represented there, though. Apparently someone didn't get the memo.
Looking at everything, it made the idea of college more real to me. It also made it seem more achievable financially, seeing all the scholarships for which I could qualify. Can I just say I love my ethnic background? :D It does wonderful things for the application process. Also, I cannot wait for SOAR next summer! It'll make me feel that much more prepared for higher ed. Who else is going? :)
Okay, well, even though I think 11 is still way too early for me to be going to bed (normal bedtime recently has been around 1 am :P), I'm kind of tired, and I can't really think of a reason that I need to be up, other than to help my brother with his Spanish homework, but am I really that nice of a person? ;) So I think I'm going to head off to bed now; let's hope I don't dream about math for the third night in a row. Blech :P
