Journal 10

In English, we have to write "journals" every class period: basically respond to a prompt. :P I decided that some of the prompts from this last set were pretty fun to do, so for probably the next couple of posts, I'll be posting my responses to them. :)

Journal 10: Can guys and girls really just be friends?

Although perhaps uncommon in junior high and some of high school, it really is possible for guys and girls to be just friends. As individuals mature and either gain control of their hormones or get over them, platonic relationships between the sexes can and do exist. In my life, I find these friendships to be some of the most relaxed and enjoyable. Between two girls, I find that friendships can sometimes be strained by jealousy and competition, no matter how much they really do care about each other. With friendships between a guy and a girl, though, it makes it easier to see the other gender’s point of view on things, and you get a better understanding of one another. I have several friends who are guys, and I don’t feel any pressure at all to be emotionally involved with them. It’s a nice feeling, because we can be comfortable around each other, make complete fools of ourselves, and not care. Friendships between guys and girls can really be just that, friendships.
